Then:
I grew up on the Illinois side of the Quad-Cities (there are actually 5) in a small town called East Moline.  I lived with my parents and my two older sisters, Christal and Anastasia. My Father was a youth pastor, Mom was either at home or helping teach small children to sing and dance.  Sophmore year my Dad became senior pastor at a different church in another of the Quad-Cities (Bettendorf).  So we moved just across the Mississippi and became Iowans.  This is so boring.  I went to Bethel College in St. Paul, MN.  While there, I started an Improv Comedy group, wrote and produced 2 feature-length films, and got a B.Mus. in Music Composition.  That’s better. I was hired my senior year at Grace Fellowship, a church in Brooklyn Park, to help with a Saturday night serivice called 550 Worship.  It was a multimedia intensive, modern “emerging church” service designed for people age 17-29.  Over seven years my job morphed into Creative Communications Director which meant I did graphic design, web design, and multimedia stuff for the whole church.  I also served helping young adults of GF grow in their faith by studying the Bible, serving the poor, establishing relationships with people who don’t know Jesus…etc.

Now:
I am really enjoying my new job! I also love my family - my wife, Shannon, and I have been married since April 2004.  Our son, Ethan, is a phenomenal drummer, and Naomi is pretty dang cute.  I commit to actively pushing the Church toward untiy, serving the poor, and other ideals of scripture constantly. In August 2007, I started Josiah Smith Band, a group devoted to writing the best possible worship music for God. A big part of my life is now focused on sharing our original worship songs with churches and people everywhere.
